During her PhD, Charlie was interested in using computational approaches to benchmark the developing human intestine and leverage Those findings to improve in vitro organoid models.
At the end of her PhD, Charlie co-invented GastroScreen, a miniature model of the human intestine that allows drugs to be tested on human organs before going to human clinical trials. She co-founded intero Biosystems in 2024 and currently serves as the company’s ceo.
